DataLand to expand in Clark Global City

DATALAND Inc. is expanding its portfolio with the planned development of a 2.3-hectare area within the 177-ha Clark Global City in Pampanga province.

In a statement on Wednesday, the real-estate company said it had inked a deal with Dennis Uy-led Global Gateway Development Corp. (GGDC) on leasing that space, where it plans to build an office building, dormitel and hotel.

“We see phenomenal growth in Clark, where there is continuous development in infrastructure that affects its economic progress,” DataLand President Andrea Marie Tamayo-Ulep said.

“We believe that a partnership with GGDC is a strategic move and we look forward to building developments that help create a progressive environment in one of the largest office markets in the Philippines,” she added.

Citing a report by Leechiu Property Consultants in December, DataLand said Clark Global City was expected to drive strong office demand and be a major contributor of office space outside Metro Manila.

“We are excited to welcome DataLand as [a] partner in realizing our vision for Clark Global City, which is integral to the development of the country’s next big metropolis that could further drive economic growth throughout the archipelago,” Uy said.

Clark Global City is a P6-billion project in the former Clark Air Base, which was previously envisioned as an aviation-focused logistics park exclusively developed by GGDC.

Possessing more than 109 hectares, Clark Global City shall host office buildings, upmarket retail outlets, contemporary academic centers, sports centers, urban park, tower, integrated resort and casino, and modern support services and amenities.

The Uy-led Udenna Group has already signed a sublease agreement with SM Prime Holdings Inc. and a deal with Century Properties Group Inc. and Bench owner Suyen Corp. for a joint venture.

“We want Clark Global City to serve as a platform for other property developers to not only take a piece of the action in Clark, but also foster economic growth and development beyond the traditional business districts,” Uy said.
