Udenna-China Telecom Group Sole 3rd Telco Bidder
Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, November 7) — A consortium identified with Davao-based businessman Dennis Uy has ended up as sole bidder for the third major telecommunications company slot.
The National Telecommunications Commission on Wednesday disqualified the SEAR Telecom consortium of former Ilocos Sur Governor Luis “Chavit” Singson and PT&T for alleged incomplete documents.
This leaves Mislatel — the consortium of Uy’s Udenna Corporation and its logistics arm Chelsea Logistics Holdings and state-owned China Telecommunications — as the only qualified bidder.
SEAR Telecom groups Mindanao-based TierOne Communications, the Luis Chavit Singson Group of Companies, Cambodia’s Southeast Asia Telecom, Singapore’s Miller Pte Ltd., and China’s Fujian Torch Electron Tech.
SEAR and PT&T have said they will file an appeal with the NTC, and have three calendar days to do so.
